Deborah Rhea has been seriously taking images since getting her first camera, a Nikon FE, in 1979. It was this good friend she kept by her side until being introduced to digital photography in 2006. Resting but not retired, the Nikon is still at the ready.

Born in 1956 and raised in Sacramento, she took a break from California living from 1997 to 2005 where she lived in Basque Country in Northern Spain. During that time her membership with Sociedad Fotograpfia de Gipuzkoa allowed countless hours in the dark room where she printed many portraits of the people involved in her Basque life and images of the inspirational places around her home in Gipuzkoa and neighboring Navarra.

Fast forward to 2010 when she met again the man who would become her partner in life, art and travel, Daniel Schoorl. They reside in Sacramento where they run a small garden design business and continue to paint, draw and photograph – keeping their art alive and new.
